About Delta Sigma Pi

Delta Sigma Pi is a professional fraternity organized to foster the study of business in universities; to encourage scholarship, social activity and the association of students for their mutual advancement by research and practice; to promote closer affiliation between the commercial world and students of commerce, and to further a higher standard of commercial ethics and culture and the civic and commercial welfare of the community.

Delta Sigma Pi was founded in 1907 at New York University, School of Commerce, Accounts and Finance by Harold Valentine Jacobs, Alexander Frank Makay, Alfred Moysello and Henry Albert Tienken.  Today, coast to coast, more than 250 collegiate chapters and over 250,000 members support the goals and ideals of the Fraternity.  Since it was founded in 1907, Delta Sigma Pi has been preparing business students to work professionally and efficiently in the business world.

Candidates for membership in Delta Sigma Pi must receive an invitation to join, complete an orientation program, and demonstrate a willingness to perpetuate the ideals of the fraternity.  Members may be men and women of all creeds and colors engaged in the study of business or related fields.  Cross membership in Greek Social fraternities and sororities is permitted.

Delta Sigma Pi is structured like a business, allowing members to experience and learn about organizational management.  Each chapter conducts a variety of professional, fundraising, and community service events throughout the year.  These events are structured to provide education, leadership, guidance, and an opportunity to socialize.

The Zeta Tau Chapter of Delta Sigma Pi was re-installed in May of 2006. Due to administrative purposes, our chapter was closed between the years of 1966 to 2004. We re-grouped in 2005-06 and are now trying to re-gain our name here at Cal State East Bay. Our chapter has been growing fast, and have learned a lot since our initiation in May 2006. We have initiated 9 new pledge classes, with another on the way. We are always looking for new members to join our fraternity, so please contact us if you are interested! We usually recruit during the first few weeks of Fall Quarter, and in February of Winter Quarter.

Delta Sigma Pi also offers scholarships, both to its members and to students of the College of Business and Economics. Every year, Delta Sigma Pi presents the Scholarship Key to the graduating senior majoring in business with the highest overall GPA. The Scholarship Key plaque is updated every year with the students' names engraved in it.

Additionally, our alumni donate funds towards a Delta Sigma Pi scholarship, which is also open to all business majors. For more information about these scholarships, please contact us.

Our members also have the opportunity to apply for several scholarships through the national fraternity.
